Rules

ART. 1 - PURPOSE

The ArtEnsemble Cultural Association of Chieti is pleased to organise the 1st International Mandolin Competition "Chieti Classica" in order to discover and develop young musical talents, to promote the Abruzzo region and to promote the historical importance of the mandolin.

The Competition, open to young musicians of all nationalities born from 1996 onwards, is devoted entirely to the traditional mandolin.

 

ART. 2 - SECTIONS AND CATEGORIES OF THE COMPETITION

The 1st Competition will have three categories grouped according to age.

 

CATEGORY A

Born in 2008 and later.

Free choice programme lasting a maximum of 8 minutes.

 

CATEGORY B

Born between 2003 and 2007.

Free choice programme lasting a maximum of 12 minutes.

 

CATEGORY C

Born between 1996 and 2002.

Free choice programme lasting a maximum of 15 minutes.

 

ART. 3 - APPLICATION FORM

Participation in the first edition of the International Mandolin Competition is free of charge, however the application must be submitted by 15 July 2021, under penalty of exclusion from the competition itself.

 

ART. 4 - AUDITION TIMETABLE

The competition will take place during the International Music Festival CHIETI CLASSICA 2021 on 9 August (in the event of many registrations, the duration of the competition may be extended to the morning of 10 August).

The official audition timetable will be made public starting commencing 18 July 2021.

ART. 5 - PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION

Entries received after the deadline will not be considered valid but may be accepted in cases of justifiable reason, and at the discretion of the competition organisation.

Candidates may be able to use an accompanying musician.

 

ART. 6 - COMMISSION

The Commission, chaired by Maestro Carlo Aonzo, will be composed of musicians with proven artistic and teaching experience, concert performers, teachers of State Music Conservatories and/or other public and private institutions. Members of the Commission, upon taking their position, will make a statement and, in the case of pupils, relatives or kin, will abstain from voting. All decisions of the Commissions will be indisputable, unchallengeable and final.

All the pieces performed must be previously published.

All competitors with a score of at least 80/100 will receive a Certificate of Merit.

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to all non-winning competitors.

 

ART. 8 - INFORMATION ON PRIVACY

Pursuant to art. 13 of Legislative Decree 193/03 the data provided will be processed for the organisational-logistical purposes of the competition. With the submission of the application form, each adult participant or parent(s) with parental authority/legal guardian of minors, authorises the organising body:

the publication of the performance timetable and the final ranking on the institutional website and on the Facebook page of the Association;

the communication of the names, results and any photographs of the winners to the media;

the public distribution of the videos made during the contest, on a non-profit basis, and exclusively for purposes of conducting and promoting the contest.

Applicants agree to comply with all actions provided by the competition organisation for compliance with Covid-19 infection prevention rules (body temperature measurement, spacing, sanitising objects and musical instruments, etc.).

Finally, by submitting the application form, each applicant accepts that the use of his or her performance for promotional and advertising purposes of the competition will not entitle him or her to any remuneration, waiving the right to request copies or make any economic or other claims for the performances made.

Pursuant to EU Regulation 679/2016, the data provided at the time of registration will be used by the organising secretariat exclusively for the conduct of the competition. The owner of the data also has the right at any time to know, update, delete and correct their data or to refuse permission for their use.

Entry into the contest constitutes unconditional approval of these regulations.

 

ART. 9 - LIABILITY

The ArtEnsemble Association, together with all the partners in collaboration for the organisation of the competition, is relieved from any responsibility related to the use of audio and/or video material by persons unrelated to the Association itself. The organisation of the competition, also does not assume responsibility for any risk or damage of any kind to persons or property during the event.

 

ART. 10 - MODIFICATIONS OF THE COMPETITION REGULATIONS

The organisation reserves the right to make any necessary changes to these rules for a better success of the competition. It may also decide to cancel the competition or one or more categories only, should causes beyond its control prevent it from taking place. Participation in the competition implies the unconditional acceptance of everything in this regulation.

 

ART.11 - FINAL PROVISIONS

For any eventual controversy the court of Chieti will be the competent authority.
