The Italian Mandolin Federation and the whole world of Italian mandolin will never cease to thank Maestro Giuliano Mazzoccante, the creator and masterful director of this great project "CHIETI Classica".

To be able to take part, as a new guest in the review, it's a matter of pride and honour for me and for all Italian mandolinists.

The inclusion of the "mandolin sector" in this project gives it the opportunity, once again, to be able to redeem itself from the adage we are now used to hear, in a sing-song way, that Italy is a country of mandolin players.

In fact, Maestro Mazzoccante does well to reiterate in each of his speeches that music in itself, without differences in styles and instruments, is the only art capable of communicating emotions and building bridges for an increasingly universal language.

After the success of the Orchestra a Plettro del Mediterraneo at the Marrucino Theatre on 25 January 2020, we are ready to offer new sensations in the usual sphere in which the people of Chieti are used to see and hear us: in fact, it will be a musical adventure created by the Artistic Direction of the Festival in the name of quality and unusual.

Like every year, CHIETI CLASSICA devotes itself to new initiatives and, this year, the attention has turned towards a fascinating instrument but at the same time not very popular.
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to be part of the jury of a competition in which I listened to different mandolin repertoire and I was fascinated. On that occasion, the meeting with the President of the Italian Mandolin Foundation and his immediate support was decisive. Therefore, from that moment I thought that sooner or later I would have liked to support the growth and beauty of this instrument.
For this reason, during the 2021 edition of the Festival the first edition of the Mandolin Competition "Chieti Classica" will be born.
